Introduction

Clarity is king to efficiency. In order to gain clarity we have to know where individuals lack it, which means we need to talk to them.

It is useful to bucket team clarity into 4 main categories:

  • IFT team: Does a given team understand “higher level” information that affects their work? Do they understand how they contribute to the larger mission or vision?
  • team IFT: Does the IFT understand the output of a given team, where their blockers exist, what their needs are?
  • inter-team: Does a given team understand what other teams are doing, what needs or blockers other teams may have with respect to them, what they need from other teams?
  • intra-team: Does a given team know what role they play within the team? Do they know what responsibilities each team member has and their progress?

All of these categories of clarity are important for the whole to move forward towards the vision together. That being said, it stands to reason that the information that needs to be understood which shouldn’t change that often should be focused on first.

To that end, we would like to conduct a survey and follow-up discussion with team leads to understand their level of clarity of the Logos Launch Strategy (IFT team). The objective is to hear what teams feel is lacking when it comes to clarity and understanding so that efforts can be made to rectify those gaps.

The Ask

We ask that team leads complete the Alignment Survey (Notion Form) by Christmas. We will follow up afterwards to schedule calls to go over results so that we can get more details where needed. It is ok if follow-ups bleed into the new year, but is heavily desired that initial survey results get done beforehand.

While this is aimed at leads, if someone feels strongly about filling this form out, the more the merrier.

F.A.Q.

  • Why only leads, don’t other people have opinions?
    • Everyone’s opinion is important, and everyone in the IFT is able to fill it out. This decision is an optimization for both getting broadly scoped opinions while minimizing the disturbance of those doing the work. It is assumed that leads have a good level of understanding of those they work with with respect to clarity and what’s needed to improve it. Everyone is welcome to fill it out, I’m only asking leads to.
  • Why so quick, it’s the holidays?
    • We would like to get a snapshot before the end of the year so that we can do it again before the all hands and present on our development and progress. We are striving to show real progress towards delivering the Logos Launch, and internal alignment is an area with high impact on potential success.
