The hub of coordination for Logos
This site aims to provide clarity for the Logos project. Because it is an asynchronous organization and permissionless movement, we do this through the coordination of creating “artifacts,” or things you can share and use.
In order for Logos to be successful, we all have to be on the same page. This site and the effort that goes into it are pushing the clarity required to get there.
Why call it “Assembly”?
TODO → It’s a good way to intuit the purpose of this repo. We are assembling for action.
Why NOT the name “Praxis”?
I originally called this page/repo Praxis, which is about doing. It is the unity of theory and practice. But there are projects in the ecosystem that are also named this that are too close to Logos… we don’t need to make things difficult to understand or make confusing. So we went with Assembly instead. So use that word to give you additional motivation about what this repository of information is about.
Ancient Greek Origins
The term originates from ancient Greek (πρᾶξις), meaning “action” or “practice.” Aristotle distinguished between three types of knowledge:
- Theoria (θεωρία) - theoretical knowledge, contemplation
- Poiesis (ποίησις) - productive knowledge, making/creating
- Praxis (πρᾶξις) - practical knowledge, action guided by moral and political considerations
Why a Quartz site?
There are a tremendous amount of interacting and linked efforts required to deliver a successful Logos Launch. Quartz provides an open, easily maintained, linked wiki to track and describe this coordinated effort.
It is important to provide an educational experience that isn’t overwhelming, but also complete and naturally discoverable. The built in graph nature of a knowledge garden allows for content to be simultaneously concise and easy to discover through its links within the larger content.
Even if this project just becomes the place where Corey keeps track of all things going on, it still provides a good resource map for others to refer to.
The flat-file as content and rich metadata associated with the architecture of quartz also enables us to feed the growing knowledge base of Logos coordination into our RAG system to keep our AI assistants up to date.
The Plan
This site has a lot of content to cover in order to provide universal clarity to the Logos Ecosystem… The facilitator of that process will be Corey Petty, as a Master of Ceremonies, of sorts. His role is about alignment and clarity of the Logos movement, both inside and out.
